While there is no paint loss, the surface of this painting is widely affected by craquelure, which does appear to have been stabilised by varnish. Painting complete. Frame split and repaired in places and is probably of the same vintage as the image.

This does not appear to be an etching. Under close inspection, it appears to be pen and ink with wash and possible chalk/pastel highlights. Several areas of deterioration and possible restoration clearly visible to left-hand margin which is evidenced by the changing colour in this area. Otherwise, in good condition. Frame appears to be period but the mounting is much newer so has been re-framed at some stage.

St. Paul's Dome is a prominent peak near Avoca (Tasmania) which appears rounded when viewed from the west, hence the name. This piece is very brown in tone, mainly due to the paper stock which is brown to begin with. We note two largish patches of possible acid reaction where there is stains in the skyline and also some brown acid toning to the margins. A couple of small foxing spots visible on the horizon. Frame with some scuffs and losses to the gilding. Still presents attractively.

Geelong Bridge over the Barwon River, (oil on board) - Appears to be a little crudely executed and there are some minor areas with some scuffs and one small area of paint loss lower right. Would benefit from a clean as there are paint flecks and dirt evident. We are unable to comment on the significance of the "III" in the lower left hand corner. The oxen work has some foxing visible (minor) and slightly discoloured in places but otherwise, in good condition.

Overall, in very good condition with no major damage or deterioration. Modern frame in good order.

It looks like it may be on a brownish coloured stock, because it is very uniformly coloured, unlike paper which has faded or become discoloured. The image is crisp and clean, there is no evidence of tears or repairs. It is framed, and has not been inspected out of the frame.
