As clearly visible in the images online, there is a crack through the handle. The lock is stamped ‘Lacey & Co’. Lacking ramrod and we note the loss of the rear of the trigger plate going down the underside of the handle, this is no longer present. We also note the lock is slightly loose and will pull out when encouraged. (reverse side screw is present but appear to have threaded)

A complete set of 28 of dominoes and they appear to be complete and in lovely condition with numerous marks and wear from use which is lovely to see and to be expected. The case appears original and has been made for the dominoes. Glass on case is damaged but appears to be original. The first twelve lots of this catalogue have all come from the three surviving sisters from the Bayly family which trace their history direct to Runnymede, we have no doubt of their provenance and origin. It is our opinion and the Bayly family’s opinion that these folk-art pieces are from Tasmania.

As photographed, all pieces are displaying attractive age, patination and tarnish. Spring a little tired in the larger clip but strong in the figural clip.

This group of military related items come from the Bayly family and extend over a period of time from the early 19th century to the early 20th century. The description of lot 1 sheds some light onto some of these objects, particularly the hat plate as Bayly was a member. All the items have come directly from the Bayly family. The buttons on the belt appear to be military in nature from various regiments, mostly from WWI

This is a group of predominantly Georgian cutlery belonging to Benjamin Bayly who according to the family came to Van Dieman’s land in 1832/33

Missing paua shell to one of the eyes, some chipping to the edge of the blade. Numerous bumps and marks throughout and a possible burn mark, we also note some minor shrinkage crack throughout. Patination and finish appears to be completely original throughout

Tip missing as photographed. Made from a solid single piece (no joins). Appears to have had some kind of tasselling or fringing on the top (no longer present but holes visible along the ridge). Excellent 19th century patination. Approximately 1.5 kilograms.

Very good original condition. Lenses would benefit from a clean. Scuffs and scratches to be expected. Some dents to the tube. Optically working. Inscription reads "J. H. Steward, 406 & 457 Strand, London" further inscribed on plaque "The Lord Bury Telescope, J. H. Steward, 406 & 457 Strand, London, No. 5173".

Lenses in good condition and operational. Original finish and patination. Inscribed "Adjusting tubes. J. P. Cutts, Sutton & Son. Opticians To Her Majesty, Sheffield & London". Case also in good condition.

Some loss to the leather and shrinkage also evident. 19th century patination throughout with numerous scuffs, scrapes and oxidisation. Inscribed “MUIRHEAD & Co. of ADELAIDE”. Lenses present and operational. Note: This is actually a two draw not a single draw.

Bell heavily oxidised with lovely patination with no cracks, rings true. Clapper not present. Note: Very heavy. Later rope.

Both teeth with numerous shrinkage cracks to be expected with age. Both examples have had some work done in rubbing them back (possibly in preparation for scrimshawing). Some chipping to the open edge at bottom. Otherwise, good condition. Provenance: Private Collection, Melbourne (no further information available).

Possible small repair to the top margin. Two pencil notations to the lower corners. Paper stock lightly toning throughout. Colours strong. Overall, a very good example in an attractive period (good condition).

This piece is from a private collection in Sandy Bay, Hobart. Sadly, no other provenance details are available. Polish appears to be original and we note numerous bumps, busies, and marks to all surfaces particularly to the top. Some loss to the strapping on the top front edge and rear lower left. Possible restoration to the strapping in numerous places. Interior leather replaced. Otherwise, complete and in good condition. Obviously has had a lot of use in its day.

Good condition throughout. Handle good and firm. Some scuffs and ware throughout to be expected, particular one dent on the bell rim. Operational.
