INWARDS MAIL: 1857 small envelope from GB to "Calder House/Newtown" with very fine 'Woolwich WO' h/s in blue on the reverse & 6d pale lilac SG 70 tied by 'LONDON/OC14/57 - SE/8' duplex, Sydney transit of JA11/1858 & Newtown arrival b/s.
Calder House was built in the late-1820s. It was leased in 1855 to Mr Castle to establish a school, later conducted 1871-79 by Dr Joseph David Sly.
