Chairs in original order with minor scuffs and scratches as to be expected. Solid sound construction and in good usable order. On closer inspection these chairs appear to be a type of hardwood and not Australian ceder, most likely manufactured in the last fifty years. Possibly commissioned due to the detailed carved back rest. An attractive set in good usable condition

We would estimate this to be 1870-1880. Drawers are running smoothly as runners have been replaced. One escutcheon missing from the first long drawer. Locks missing from both short drawer and bottom long drawer. Scuffs, scratches, and knocks as to be expected with age. Original finish showing evidence of sun bleaching this is highlighting the French chalk grain filler within the grain. Original condition, molding repair to the back right hand corner top and right-hand corner front. Minor shrinkage cracks to the applied cross grain cushion molding. The vendor has informed us this was acquired from the Australian Club of which he is a member when the club deaccessioned some surplus furniture.
