Overall good original condition with an old even finish and colour. Scuffs and scratches as to be expected with age. Several small professional repairs and some minor losses to the cushion mould to the drawer blades. Replaced mismatching, yet old, dust panels to the back of the chest.

In old, restored condition that has been refinish a long time ago or heavily revived 19th century finish. Scuffs, scratches and knocks as to be expect with age. Several small areas of veneer loss to the lower plinth support of the lyre trestle ends. Shrinkage separation to the cross-grain ogee mould below the table top. A rare style of table would respond well to sympathetic restoration.

The bookcase is in remarkably original condition. This is one of a series of known bookcases made for Redmond Barry, matching the one described and illustrated in ‘Australian Furniture Pictorial History and Dictionary 1788-1939’ by Kevin Fahy an Andrew Simpson.

There is loss to the underside of the tabletop where the table may have fallen over at some point, only noticeable when table is upside down.

Solid sound construction and in good usable order. On closer inspection these chairs appear to be a type of hardwood and not Australian ceder, most likely manufactured in the last fifty years. Possibly commissioned due to the detailed carved back rest. An attractive set in good usable condition

This has been refinished some time ago. Surface now with several stains and watermarks as well as scuffs and scratches as with age. No evidence of repairs or restoration. The original extended board to the top has been nailed to the lower frame and these areas have been filled. A rare example of its type and in usable condition.

The vendor has informed us this was acquired from the Australian Club of which he is a member when the club deaccessioned some surplus furniture.

Numerous bumps, marks and scuffs and discolourations, in particular to the upright which have darkened very attractively with age. Very nice colour and patination throughout, a very nice example.

The mirror plate is original and period, still offering good reflection and very usable but with discolouration, frosting and discolouration to the edges. Brass candles sconces attached to the side of the mirror are later replacements.  

The parquetry specimen top with shrinkage cracks and movement as to be expected with age. Old colour and finish. Most likely an apprentice or hobbyist piece. The underside supports, pedestal, block column, and legs appear to be of a later date and most likely made to suit what was a specimen display tabletop. Recent banjo brass catch fitted.
