The finely carved silhouettes are in very good condition with no signs of repairs, restoration or losses. Male figure shows some evidence of discolouration to the back collar and bowtie area, this could possibly be professionally cleaned to remove areas of staining. Oil gilt frames period with no signs of repairs, losses or restoration and would benefit from light wax. Very good quality carved ivory portraits.

  • Condition Report

Evidence of possible re-veneering to the front of the box as grain figure is not consistent with the choice of timber used throughout the box. This has been refinished, retaining original fitted tray, key, and brass hardware.

  • Condition Report

The chest appears to have been refinished at long time ago. Has good colour and patination. Shrinkage cracks which appear on the blonde plinth base mostly to the left-hand side. This chest appears to be more of a hobbyist piece as opposed to a trained cabinet maker. No evidence of repairs or restorations.
