Description: CASED PAIR OF JOSEPH MANTON FLINTLOCK HALF STOCKED DUELLING PISTOLS: 50 Cal; 10" octagonal barrels with small areas of light bruising & one pistol has light vice marks to the breech; g. bores; small silver blade front sights & notched rear sights at the tang; single gold band to the breeches including a gold poincon with the ROYAL CYPHER & marked JOSEPH MANTON PATENT; trophies & flags engraved to the tang; borderline engraved lock plates inscribed JOSEPH MANTON LONDON; fitted with a bolted safety with a small area of sunburst decoration; fitted with swan necked cocks, rain proof pans & gold touch holes; steel pineapple finial t/guards engraved with trophies & flags; steel furniture; g. profiles, clear engravings & markings; v. light brown patina to barrels, soft grey to locks & fittings, blue/grey to t/guards; g. stocks with horn forend caps, chequered butts with vacant oval silver wrist escutcheons; stocks have moderate bruising, mostly to the lock surrounds; all complete with horn tipped rods; gwo & cond.
