Karsh remains one of the photography world's most esteemed portrait artists, known for his elaborate and memorable pictures of many of the most celebrated faces of the times. This original portrait of Heifetz (printed by Karsh in Ottowa) - in his studio, backed by his favourite sculpture of a brooding Beethoven, was inscribed to his wife using two cyrillic "F"s in the nickname he had given her.
