MANILA: 1945 (Sep 17) Red Cross cover endorsed "Liberated POW (UK)" to GB with 'AUST ARMY PO/243' cds & 'PASSED FREE/OF POSTAGE' cachet plus 'No2 AUST BASE PO/2[?]SE45/ B ' transit cds applied in Melbourne. With the 3-page letter headed "HQRA 11 Indian Division/Liberated POW/co Base Post Office/Melbourne" which states "...It will be a treat to get away from the East. The heat and rain wears you down. I am finding it difficult to eat good European food again...These Japs are certainly going to get all they've asked for and they deserve it. Even the best of Christians would find it difficult to love his enemies where the Japs are concerned..." (2 items)
