Description:
1876 'VICTORIA/[train]/ECHUCA' 1d green irregular block of 5 (no margins), 2d mauve complete sheetlet of 6 (3x2), 3d orange & 6d blue large-part sheetlets of 5 (each with the upper-right unit removed), a few blemishes & light overall soiling, full unmounted o.g. Ex "The Brussells Find": acquired on 7.5.2013 for $3335 (including a 2d block of 5, disposed of previously).
Prior to the discovery of the Brussells Find in 2013, the only recorded multiples were a ½d strip of 3 - not seen for 30+ years - & a 1d block of 6. This lot establishes that the 2d 3d & 6d were printed in sheetlets of 6. The 1d was printed in sheets of 12 (3x4): the find included a block of 10. The only other multiples are a second ½d strip of 3 & a second 6d block of 5 from the same source. Thus, the 2d block is the only complete "unit" recorded] (4 blocks)
