1931 (July 28) Japan-United States by Clyde Pangborn & Hugh Herndon Jr in "Miss Veedol" with Japanese 1½sn & 8½sn tied by Japanese cds and US Red Cross 2c cancelled on arrival at 'WENATCHEE/WASH', signed "Clyde Pangborn" & "Hugh Herndon Jr". Ex Boris Joffe. This was a Round the World Flight aimed at breaking Wiley Post's record. The flight was interrupted in Japan where the aviators were arrested for overflying fortifications! After their release, they completed the first non-stop flight between Japan & America, crash-landing in central Washington State.
