1931 (Aug 2) Manila-Shanghai postcard carried by Francis Chichester in his DH60G Moth float plane "Miss Elijah" with Philippines 2c & 30c 'LOF/1928' Overprints ('London Orient Flight') tied Manila 'JUL29/1931' cancel and China Airmails 30c tied 'SHANGHAI/10.8.31' d/s on arrival, fine condition, AAMC Cat $2750. Chichester flew from New Zealand via Australia, the Philippines, Taiwan & China en route to Tokyo and became the first pilot to fly solo between Australia & Japan, but the flight was abandoned after the plane was wrecked in a crash at Katsuura, Japan on Aug 15; only 10 flown on this leg.
