BOOKLETS: 1909-12 One Pound (1d pink x240) Blue/Pink cover with view "GENERAL POST OFFICE, ADELAIDE" on the reverse BW #B4(V)A (SG SB1b) with two complete blocks of 60 & a third block from which eight stamps have been removed - making a total of 172 of 240 stamps - minor splitting at the cover-fold but very fresh and of exceptional appearance, Cat $25,000+ (£20,000). An outstanding item: illustrated also on the back cover of this catalogue. [The ACSC at Page 11/8 states "Catalogue prices for pre-1928 booklets are for booklet covers in good condition containing any quantity of the relevant stamps..."] These One Pound booklets are among the most remarkable and visually stimulating postal items ever produced in Australia. Of major importance to collectors of Victoria and the Commonwealth of Australia alike, and one of the key items from the pre-Kangaroos CofA period. The ACSC records only seven examples across the four different recorded views. A complete example with the Sydney GPO on the reverse sold at the Prestige auction of 25.1.2003 for $40,320]
