1850 (Nov 18) entire to Sydney with Sydney Views 2d deep blue Plate III SG 30 (margins small to touching design, roughly separated) tied BN '54' (reversed '4', Freeman rated RRR) and good 'CARRINGTON/NEW.S.WALES' crowned oval (White #C65) alongside paying uniform inland letter rate, 'SYDNEY/NO20/1850/NEW SOUTH WALES' arrival (White #P2) b/s, letter headed "Stroud" written by Rev Dr John Dunmore Lang, Presbyterian Church Leader and Member of the Legislative Council, some staining. Stated to be one of only two "numeral ties" known. Carrington PO opened 9.11.1831, closed 31.12.1851.
