1931 (March 29) England-Australia #185 cover carried by HF (Jimmy) Broadbent in his Blackburn Bluebird on an attempted flight to Australia endorsed and signed "Per Boat/from Constantinople/HF Broadbent/3.4.31" on face and by recipient "...Mr Broadbent crashed in Turkey, so he carried the letter from there by boat & posted the same in Sydney" signed by the Manager of the Union Trustee Co on back, franked with KGV 2d red tied Sydney '8MAY/1931' cancel, Cat $1,500. [The only item known carried on this flight; a snowstorm forced Broadbent to land in a swamp near Izmit and the flight was abandoned; cover opened out with contemporary Sydney Morning Herald newspaper clippings pasted inside and slightly reduced at base not affecting markings]
