1928 (Feb 7) England-Australia #116 cover front carried by Bert Hinkler on his record-breaking solo flight for delivery to EJ Hart, editor of the Australian 'Aircraft' journal, originally sent to the Royal Aero Club, London with Great Britain KGV 1d red and ½d green tied 'HAMPSTEAD SO NW3/4JA/28', after arrival in Australia Hinkler signed and endorsed the cover "Per Avro Avian G-EBVO/carried from London to Melbourne/by B Hinkler" and drew a sketch map of the route below this, front only mounted on card, Cat $8,000. [accompanied by 1932 explanatory letter from 'Air Mail Consultant' Francis Field stating "only cover known", although Newall and AAMC now record three letters carried; Eustis did not have an example, but his card flown by Hinkler from Calcutta (one of six known, Cat $4,250) sold for $8,050]
