Filmed in 1906, this was the first "feature film" produced anywhere in the world. At the time, most movies ran for less than 20 minutes. "The Kelly Gang" went for almost an hour, divided into six scenes (or sequences). It was very popular in Australia & was later released in England. The film was the brainchild of Melbourne impresarios, theTait Brothers. It was directed by Charles Tait, many family members appeared in it & most of the film was shot at a family property in Heidelberg. (11)
