Lot 111DIRK HARTOG'S PLATE: Pewter replica of Hartog Plate. The original plate was left by Dutch explorer Dirk Hartog on the coast of WA in 1616, and discovered by Willem de Vlamingh in 1697 and returned to the Netherlands, where it is still kept in the Rijksmuseum Amsterdam, the oldest-known artifact of European exploration still in existence.
