  • Condition Report

Good original condition, no evidence of repairs or restorations. Light surface scuffs and scratches as to be expected with age. Would benefit from a light clean. We are unsure of the exact maker, please look at picture of hallmarks for reference. Most likely James McKay of Scotland and most likely a locally make piece as relating to the Perthshire inscription.

It has come from a very notable collection from the Yarra Ranges (East of Melbourne), in our opinion it is a high grade silver. Most likely 900 or more. The tea pot appears to be a different manufacturer to the jug and bowl. Overall very good condition, with no signs of any significant defects or damage. Attractive patination that could be further enhanced with a soft polish.

The tantalus is in good original condition and would benefit from a light clean. The decanters without chips, breaks or damage although the two handled examples with possible replacement stoppers. The central decanter with a different facet design to the stopper and the bottle. All fit the carrying case well, though maybe antique replacements.

The outer and inner edge are heavily tarnished with dents, crinkles and creases. These could be improved as it is a thin frame. A few small dints presenting as black marks due to the tarnish. The blue velvet backing and easel stand to the frame are sun bleached, worn and discoloured, the hinge now held with a large paper clip. Some sympathetic restoration is required. A nice example.
