Mahogany inverted bell top case decorated with ormolu mounts, caryatids to the cantered corners and pineapple finial. Shallow arch brass dial plate with applied wing to cherub spandrels. Whittington/Westminster subsidiary dial and applied silvered brass Roman chaptering. Substantial three train chain fusee movement chiming the two tunes on two nests of four graduated gongs and the hour on a larger coil gong. 77cm high. Condition ReportCase with some wear and rubbing to the highlights, missing an approximately 10cm piece of beading on the upper right side. Tarnish to the metal mounts particularly to the feet. Movement appears to be complete with pendulum. Note not currently running. Ticks for a while then stops. Would benefit from a clean and service. Some damage to three of the dials; enamel chipped between 4-5 on one, cracking and staining to the other, and a hairline crack visible to the third. Condition ReportAppears to be professionally restored, minor scuffs and scratches to the case (as to be expected). Dial appears to be a later replacement. Has being retrofitted as to operate from a cell battery, all parts/movements appear to be present and correct. We are unable to test and run this clock due to it being brought in by the vendor with the pendulum assembly attached and the suspension spring has been broken. Professional set up/adjustment of the movement would be required for operation. A good example of its type.
