  • Condition Report

Good original condition, no evidence of repair or restorations. Repousse still crisp and detailed. Small impression to the repousse work below the thistle decoration. Foot rim slightly deformed, one bend where it has obviously been dropped in its life. The repousse decoration at the lower join of the handle is pushed in, we believe this to be original in order for the handle to sit true and part of the silversmith’s intention. A marvellous example.

  • Condition Report

Good original condition, no evidence of repair or restorations. Some of the highlights of the repousse work slightly rubbed as expected with age. Nicely marked to the base. Frosted glass liner is definitely old, unsure if original however this fits nicely. Areas especially behind the handle at the top of where the handle is attached and in various repousse decorations show that this piece was originally silver gilt.

Decanter bottles appear to be original to the stand, one with a chip to the rim of the foot. One stopper appears to be a replacement as it is slightly smaller and sits a little lower in the bottle. • Condition Report

Good original condition, no evidence of repair or restorations. Nicely marked to the base, areas of the base showing scratch silver testing patches. Internal gilt wash present but rubbed. Engraving crisp. Frosted finish to the ground of the cup and areas on the handle head finial show evidence that this was most likely frosted gilt finish. A lovely example. • Condition Report

Good original condition, no evidence of repair or restorations. The tip slightly bent from where it may have been dropped. The edge to the right-hand side of the engraved dedication rough with minor dents due to impact damage. A bend where the trowel plate is attached to the foot of the handle. Trowel appears to have been used to pry something up causing the bend. As can been seen in the images at the 10 o’clock position a small delamination in the silver, this is not present on the reverse side of the trowel. Would benefit from a light clean and polish. Hallmarks to the silver collar fitting the turned wooden handle. The trowel plate appears to be silver as there is no evidence of base metal showing in rubbed areas.
