View details Estimate$2,000 - $3,000StatusUnsold Lot #128 VELOCIPEDE (BONE SHAKER) rare and early Australian redgum and blacksmith make bicycle, Barossa Valley, circa 1860s, 130cm high, 190cm long, front wheel 98cm diameter. Condition ReportCondition is as photographed (barn find condition). Appears to be complete, original and untouched with many imperfections. It is unrideable and would need sympathetic restoration to make it sturdier (currently the wheels are tired together to prevent any excess movement in the frame). A fabulous piece, the only example we’ve seen. This appears to be full agricultural made blacksmith piece. Which offers more tantalising questions than answers. It was found on a farm in the Barossa valley. We suggest talking direct to Scammell’s for the property details.
