Possible small repair to the top margin. Two pencil notations to the lower corners. Paper stock lightly toning throughout. Colours strong. Overall, a very good example in an attractive period (good condition).

Token is 27.5mm in diameter

This piece is from a private collection in Sandy Bay, Hobart. Sadly, no other provenance details are available. Polish appears to be original and we note numerous bumps, busies, and marks to all surfaces particularly to the top. Some loss to the strapping on the top front edge and rear lower left. Possible restoration to the strapping in numerous places. Interior leather replaced. Otherwise, complete and in good condition. Obviously has had a lot of use in its day.

Good condition throughout. Handle good and firm. Some scuffs and ware throughout to be expected, particular one dent on the bell rim. Operational.

Good, original condition with 19th century wear and patination throughout. Handle good and firm. The only defect of note is that the handle has been holed at some stage, most likely for hanging. Operational.

Mixed condition. I.) FORM OF INFORMATION – Chips and losses to the margins (clearly visible from the photograph), some spotting and toning also visible plus pencil inscription to the upper margin. II.) Manuscript document – With two pencil inscriptions to front page, two tape repairs evident, small tears occurring at the creases and the bottom margins, some staining and a little bit grotty. III.) The Blue Paper – With pencil later inscriptions, some slight fading and toning to the margins and splitting at the fold.

This photograph is from a private collection in Sandy Bay, Hobart. The photograph came to us with a very fine collection of convict photographs from Port Arthur which were auctioned in our rooms in May of this year.

These are not magnetic and appear to be manufactured out of brass or bronze. (Most likely brass).

Some rubbing to the pointed extended areas but otherwise, appears to be complete and in good condition.
