Accompanied by a hand-written memorandum from the Civil Commandant at Port Arthur dated June 1865 accepting the resignation of the Second Clerk at Port Arthur. This document was found in the writing box. The Box 16.5cm high, 50cm wide, 25.5cm deep. 2 Condition ReportThis piece is from a private collection in Sandy Bay, Hobart. Sadly, no other provenance details are available. Polish appears to be original and we note numerous bumps, busies, and marks to all surfaces particularly to the top. Some loss to the strapping on the top front edge and rear lower left. Possible restoration to the strapping in numerous places. Interior leather replaced. Otherwise, complete and in good condition. Obviously has had a lot of use in its day.
