The obliterator was withdrawn from service c.1871. This is the only recorded usage later than February 1871, & it is therefore rated RRRRR in this period. It may have been used as an emergency measure when one of the 'MG3' d/s was out-of-service for a brief period. [Molnar & Waugh state at page 120 that the stamp is Crown/A issued 1905-12; that is an error View details Estimate$100Price Realized$75StatusSold GST†SymbolSGradeA A2+ Lot #353 TPOs: MELBOURNE-SANDHURST/BENDIGO 1865-1927 - UP TRAIN 3: Type 2 (Duplex) very fine strike of MR1/81 tying Laureates 6d to cover to Scotland, Melbourne & British 'EDINR & CARLISLE SORTING TENDER/ + ' transit backstamps; and superb strike of AU2/95 on 1d Postal Card Bendigo-Collingwood. Rated RRRR: only three examples on loose stamps, and no covers, recorded. Ex Max Watson. [The illustration at page 120 is a composite. This example is the most complete. With no example of the original state, one can only speculate as to the excised inscription. In fact, it is not certain that this is a TPO marking, though it is probable that is the case] View details Estimate$100Price Realized$75StatusSold SymbolSGradeA A3 Lot #357 TPOs: MELBOURNE-SANDHURST/BENDIGO 1865-1927 - DOWN TRAIN 3: Type 1 (Large Octagon) very fine b/s of MY2368 on cover with Laureates 2d tied by very fine '119' with superb 'WOODEND' cds (ERD) on the face, to "Lake Cooper" with Sandhurst, very fine 'ROCHESTER' (ERD) & almost fine 'COROP' b/s, redirected to "Sandhurst Hospital" & returned via Rochester.
